The Wicked Whispers brand New Single ‘Chronological Astronaut’ is coming!

In such a short space of time following 3 early limited edition vinyl releases on Electone Records, The Wicked Whispers have become one of the UKs most exciting new British bands in the current flourishing psychedelic climate. Alongside a countless stream of touring across the UK and Europe promoting their early releases, the band have already received critical nods from the likes of NME, Clash Magazine, Shindig!, Record Collector and R2 Magazine as well as receiving national airplay on Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), Radio 2 (Mark Radcliffe), 6Music (Tom Robinson & Stuart Macconie) and BBC Introducing (Dave Monks) and many more.

The Wicked Whispers are finally preparing to release their long-awaited debut album ‘Maps of the Mystic’, Monday 22nd September 2014 on Electone Records. Produced by Mike Murphy, the debut album covers the complete spectrum of the bands current universe thriving on their passions for psychedelia, folk, country and vintage pop orbiting around Mike Murphy’s dream-state like song writing, provoking the imagination whilst conjuring up imagery of unsure but possible realities.

The first single taken from the debut album is ‘Chronological Astronaut’ which is released Monday 14th July 2014 on Electone Records bringing an instant, intense, and addictive first glimpse of the forthcoming debut album.

With pounding r’n’b grooves, overwhelming brass section (provided by the stunning Austin Murphy and Martin Smith) and all the bands trademark psychedelics, ‘Chronological Astronaut’ is The Wicked Whispers most exciting sounding track to date locked within an action packed 3 minutes. Their key influences of The Doors, The Byrds and Love are as present as ever, whilst the combination delivers their trademark stamp, the band are now comfortable and confident in their settled state as they arrive at their first long player.

Producing the album and single, Mike Murphy (The Wicked Whispers singer/songwriter) has overseen the recording, mixing and preparing of the album over months of isolation within Tracks Studios, Liverpool. With Steve Powell (Michael Head and the Magical World of The Strands and The Red Elastic Band) engineering and assisting, the sense isolation and tightly closed doors helped form a firm bubble around the formation of the record, creating a very believable Wicked Whispers world.
